Hi, I’m Gordon (the photo bomber in the middle)
Wedding & Portrait Photographer

Hi, thank you for visiting my website. I am deeply passionate about my photography and love taking and creating photographic images. I could not imagine doing anything else and it is a real privilege to do it as a full time profession.

I started as a teenager when travelling. I Bought my first camera and a pocket full of black and white film and walked my socks off around Europe. I knew this is what I wanted to do as my profession and since completing my photography degree have worked full time as a photographer, specialising in people and their locations. I trained as a photojournalist as well as being trained as an editorial, corporate and architectural photographer. My other love (personal work) is for travel and landscapes. I use many of the skills I have learnt on a wedding day, especially lighting and quick observation. I am also a very keen guitarist, love good food (and some bad) and good wine. I am happily married with a handsome and witty 13 year old son. I am easy going and relaxed so no pressure on you.

MY PHILOSOPHY

To take everyday reality, observe it and then interpret it my own way. Not in a pretentious way but just considered seeing.

Without Gordon we wouldn't have known about the wonderful venue we got married in, he told us all about it when we met and seemed more interested in selling the venue than himself! He was so helpful right from the get go and really showed that he is extremely passionate about photography, its not just a job to Gordon, he goes the extra mile, just like other people have said, he really will lay down on the floor to capture amazing images. On the day he worked relentlessly and captured thousands of amazing photos which we are so happy with, its overwhelming at first how many photos there are, but there's peace of mind that we know there isn't a photo we saw him take that we haven't received. We highly recommend Gordon's services to anyone looking for a photographer.

We found Gordon at a Wedding fayre and liked him straight away, he was bubbly, passionate about his work and wasn't pushy with a sales pitch. We had a pre-shoot to get to know each other a little more, it was a lot of fun, despite the cold, however, this was a good test for our November wedding! Gordon will go to any lengths to get the best shots, including lying on a muddy wet floor, warming up the slugs. Our weddings photos are perfect - Thank you Gordon.

We met Gordon around eighteen months before our wedding, at The Hatherley Manor wedding fayre and we instantly liked him. He wasn’t pushy at all and was very relaxed throughout and we booked him for our wedding, almost immediately, which was the best decision we could have made! Gordon arrived for our wedding at around 7am and stayed with us until late evening and was absolutely fantastic with everybody, throughout the whole day. He definitely had the patience of a saint and nobody even knew he was there a lot of the time, as he was doing what he does best and taking the most beautiful photographs that we could have imagined! On behalf of myself and my husband, we could honestly not recommend Gordon Singer enough!

I can not recommend Gordon enough, I didn’t want a wedding photographer to start with but my partner did. We met Gordon at Cheltenham Town Hall Wedding Fayre and we instantly warmed to him. Gordon did a pre-wedding shoot with us and started the wedding day at my house we have some beautiful photos from start to finish and a storybook album that I can’t stop looking at. I’m so happy I changed my mind and we did have a photographer after all, Gordon was lovely and added to the magic of the day I cannot thank him enough.

Hiring Gordon as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. We had looked at a few other options but once we had a face to face meeting with him to discuss the contract, we already had very good feelings about him. He outlined his process for having backup equipment, backups of the photos in separate locations, a plan of action depending on the weather, and for how he has shot at our venue – Hatherley Manor – in the past. He even had a contingency plan in place in the event that he is unable to do the shoot on the day – bringing in one of his friends from his “guild of photographers” to do the shoot instead.

Of course, we still had no idea how good he was behind the lens or how we were going to react to the camera. The pre-wedding shoot put all of those worries to bed and we would recommend this to anyone. Gordon had plenty of suggestions for locations and took our feedback into account. Eventually we decided on Westonbirt Arboretum. We thought we were going to be really awkward and embarrassing but Gordon was very cheerful and jokey and helped us relax. Eventually we settled into it and really enjoyed ourselves. Gordon had some great ideas for shots and knew of plenty of hidden away areas which were relatively tourist-free. One of the really standout things about Gordon is that he really goes the extra mile for those shots. On more than one occasion he lay down in the mud to get an upward angle shot! The photos for the pre-wedding shoot came out amazing and we purchased a guestbook for our wedding day with photos from shoot. I would definitely recommend the personalised guestbook, it’s a really nice touch for your big day.

On the run up to the big day Gordon was immediately preparing us for bad weather as the forecasts weren’t great. He encouraged us to allow for more time to set up his equipment indoors for group photographs. This was essential and I’m glad he was honest with us from the beginning rather than getting our hopes up for outside photos. However, it all worked out pretty well weather-wise anyway. Not only did we manage to get all the group photos done inside but the weather cleared up long enough for us to take some fantastic shots in the grounds. He was discrete and professional throughout the ceremony, wedding breakfast, speeches etc. but still cracked jokes, caught loads of funny moments and set up plenty of clever shots. At one point he was once again prone on the floor taking shots of people getting low on the dance floor and my two nephews dancing at knee height.

The photos are fantastic and we will treasure the images forever. Gordon is truly talented and clearly very passionate about his work. I’ll say it again, choosing Gordon as our photographer is easily one of the best decisions that we have made. Honestly can’t recommend him enough.

Sian & Colin - Stonehouse Court Hotel - 5th August 2017

We chose Gordon as our wedding photographer and it was one of the best decisions of our wedding planning! The pre wedding shoot was invaluable, there is a bit of a height difference between us so this highlighted a few things to be aware of and avoid on the big day! On the day Gordon worked incredibly hard, he was with us from when we were getting ready in the morning and right the way through the day and well into the evening.

Looking back at the photos we can't even remember seeing him at the time as he just blended in. Despite having, what we thought, a comprehensive list of pictures there were still a couple that we missed, Gordon was able to photoshop a couple of pictures to overcome this issue.

Having access to the pictures online is great so we have been able to share the login details with family and friends. The USB is ideal, having the photos in both black and white as well as colour. The added bonus, which we were not expecting, was the videos of the speeches included on the USB, it has given us the opportunity to be able to really listen to them.

The photo album and the parent books are perfect, the parent books are an ideal size for our Mum's to take out to show their friends! The photo albums tell the story of the day which is lovely. We have some absolutely wonderful pictures from an amazing day.

Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION

How long do you stay for

ANSWER

I offer the whole day unlimited. Normally we would review how the evening was going around the buffet time. If you have fireworks or other things happening late in the evening I am more than happy to stay to cover these.
I also can adapt or create a smaller bespoke package for weekday weddings Monday - Thursday

QUESTION

Is it you on your own or do you have a second photographer

ANSWER

I base the package options as me on my own. Unless the groom side is doing something unusual or really needs photographing I stay with the bride to be.
If you wish to add a second photographer this can be arranged for an extra fee. The cost would vary depending on hours required and locations.

QUESTION

What happens if your camera breaks

ANSWER

I always work with an exact back up kit. I have two main bodies, a variety of lenses including back up for the main work horse. I also have numerous flash and lighting devices. These are often used as multiple light units for fun and creative shots at night.
I also have my gorgeous little Fuji mirrorless camera for really sensitive shots, either during the ceremony or for catching people unaware.

QUESTION

What happens if you are ill on the day

ANSWER

I keep myself as fit as possible and don’t smoke. I go to the gym and walk a lot so do everything I can to be in shape.
In the unfortunate event that I was too ill to work very short notice I have a back up plan with four other photographers. Two are local and two are my photography college friends. All are professional wedding photographers and great at what they do.
Touch wood this has never happened but it is good to know that there are others to cover. If I had an accident days, weeks or months before and was left to I’ll to work then you would be entitled to a refund.

QUESTION

How long does it take to receive our photographs and how are the photographs presented

ANSWER

I ask for four weeks from the date of the wedding. This is to allow full and detailed processing of the images. Usually I am able to turn them round in three weeks but four is the guide.
I present all of your images on USB media. All of the images also go on your own personal password protected gallery online. This is a free download service and all of the images are exactly the same size as on your USB. Guests and family can login in with the password (if you let them!) and download the full high resolution files saving you the need to email images around.
